About Me

New Year, New Attitude, Same Me

There’s something so promising about the start of a new year. It’s full of hope and potential. Armed with the life lessons we learned from last year and all the previous years, we feel ready to take on anything, but I’m still going to choose my battles wisely. Although I’m not one for new year’s resolutions, I firmly believe in setting goals and boundaries in both my private and professional life.

My Goals and Boundaries for 2014

Negative people are not welcomed – When I was visiting my hometown for Christmas I ran into an old friend. Although we were friends since grade school, we no longer keep in touch. I was reminded of why when she began to mention negative things that she allegedly heard people saying about me. I listened to her without interrupting, but knew it was unlikely that anyone (besides her) felt this way about me in a town I haven’t lived in for nearly ten years. I was also reminded of why our past should stay in our past, that includes some people. People who choose to be a source of negativity are not welcomed into my inner circle.

Higher, Higher, Higher - When it comes to my career, I will always continue to set my goals higher and higher. In addition to shooting several commercials, I filmed my first TV show and my first movie in 2013. I also took some amazing trips and had some unforgettable experiences. I will aim even higher now, in hopes that this year and every new year will be my best year yet.

New Year, New attitude - My attitude towards my hair these days can best be described as relaxed and natural. Why? Well, I’ve settled nicely into this natural hair thing. As a result, I’ve relaxed my approach to the things that used to stress me out. Pre-poos, deep treatments and steaming sessions no longer over-run my weekly routine. Keeping my hair healthy will always be a priority, but that shouldn’t be a source of anxiety. Pampering my hair is something I do for me and “me” time should never be stressful.

Be the best me I can be. – I am who I am and I love me for it. I’m not perfect, none of us are. However, I don’t want to change myself. I only want to improve so that I can be the very best, most honest, driven, and inspired me I can be and I will only spend my time in the company of like-minded individuals who appreciate that.

Now let’s have an AMAZING year people!
