What are sulfates and why are they bad for me?

Sulfates  also called surfactants, are chemicals added to hair products to help crate lather.  Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) are chemicals that are commonly used in health and beauty products as a foaming agent.  These chemicals strip hair of it’s natural oils and cause dryness.
