Meet Tiffany – A self confessed “nerd.” Not only does she hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Dartmouth College, she also has a Master’s of Sociology from Emory University. What’s even more impressive is that she found the time to transition and grow out her beautiful natural hair while juggling it all! Today, Tiffany works as a researcher and evaluator in Atlanta. (How dope is that?!) Umm…when did “nerds” become this pretty and inspirational?
Meet Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, Ariel Meredith. Originally from Louisiana, this leggy beauty has done it all from walking the runways of New York, Milan and Paris to campaign adverts for well known names like D&G, The Limited, CoverGirl eye wear, and American Eagle Outfitters. You don’t often see models with long healthy natural hair, so Ariel’s locks stand out among the rest. Read her interview to find out more.
My name is Noella. I am a 100% Jamaican woman who now calls Switzerland home.
I have been natural since 2003. Like most Jamaican girls, growing up we always knew that when it was time to start high school it was time to get our hair “creamed”, that is the word we use for a relaxer or a perm. I was a little late though, I had my first relaxer done when I was in the 9th grade, I was about 13. My mom was against it but we (my twin sister and I) begged and begged and she succumbed to our pleas! During summer breaks I looked forward to my Patra braids and my cornrows though.
Tell us a little about yourself.
Well, my name is Aja and I am a hardcore Jesus freak! Totally sold out for Him all the way! Amen!!!
I am also a 32 year old wife and mother of a 13 month old girl named Lily-Grace. I am a stay-at-home-mom, and my dear husband, Paul, travels at least 60% of the time, so LG and me get LOTS of quality time together! She is just the bee’s knees!!! In my former life, I was a model for 10 years and a singer-songwriter. My completely inconsequential loves are Anthropologie, Christian music from all over the map and natural hair blogs! And my family and I love to travel, and eat yummy, healthy, good food!

Meet my friend Katiana. She’s one of the healthiest people I know. It’s funny how things go full circle because she often tells me I was part of her inspiration for going natural but when my hair became damaged from heat styling and I had to BC again, she was the one who inspired me because her hair was so healthy. It reminded me of what my hair’s potential and it gave me the motivation to BC again and grow out the halo I missed so much. Thanks Kat! Check out her interview below.
· How long have you been natural and what was your inspiration for doing so?
I’ve been natural for about three years however I have done a big chop twice and a cut once. I was a little scissors happy in my first year. No regrets though, I had to learn!
Student • Brooklyn, NY
